About

Artist/designer Amanda Wise creates hand built ceramic wall art, sculpture, lighting and vessels. With a professional background in digital design, she is inspired by immersive contemporary art and music, travel, stylised and natural landscapes, the history of architecture and interiors, and speculative/science fiction.

I am interested in how we connect with certain places and moments in time to create resonant memories. My current work explores the interplay of elemental forms, surface texture, shadows and depth to create beauty and meaning.

My process is to start with exploratory sketches, notes and photos of resonant moments from my life, which I often manipulate and draw over digitally to build the story of the idea. To me, the process of making with clay, slips, natural textures, moulds, firing techniques and assembly is a collaboration between the medium and the idea. We work together to explore possibilities and bring stories to life. I am excited for the creative journey ahead.
